Learning that fits around your lifestyle

The Institute has developed a unique flexible learning approach towards community services training, focusing on blending external education with face-to-face training and on-the-job experience.  This approach ensures you can fit gaining your qualification around your other competing career, family and lifestyle commitments.

That's why the Institute focuses on a blended delivery approach. Our training methods set a precedent in flexibility and support. This means you can fit your learning around your lifestyle whilst accessing exceptional levels of quality and support.  In today's fast paced world it's important that your education is flexible enough to fit in with your other important obligations.

Institute courses are designed to maximise your learning through flexible means. You can progress at your own pace*, and assessment is progressive.

You have the flexibility to study where, when and how you want to. This allows you to fit your studies around other commitments. And you can study at a pace that suits you... 12 to 18 months or over 2, 3, even 4 years*.

* If your course is funded by Centrelink or another funding program, you'll need to progress through your course in accordance with the timeframes indicated on your Course Planner provided with your first Study Pack.

Your Flexible Learning Program

Whilst our courses are extremely flexible, we make no compromise on quality. We've developed a uniquely successful flexible learning program. We've implemented many pioneering strategies that make our courses flexible, supportive, enjoyable and high value.

Some of these benefits include:

  • Specifically written and easy to understand study material. Even if you haven't studied for a long time you'll find the workbooks easy to follow.
  • You have unlimited use of the Toll Free 1300 Study Assistance Line, which puts you in contact with an Education Adviser who will answer all your study and assessment queries.
  • A Virtual Campus website where you can obtain study assistance, check seminar and tutorial dates and review interesting links.
  • Tutorials are offered regularly and provide an ideal forum for practical interaction, role-play, supervision and discussion.
  • Practical components that teach you to apply your theoretical knowledge to occupational scenarios in a simulated setting. These practical components can be completed through various accessible means, including interactive seminars. If you are unable to attend seminars due to distance, disability or other reasons, you can complete the practical components via alternate means.
  • Work placements that assist with transferring your knowledge from a simulated setting to the real work environment.  You are able to structure the hours of your placement around your commitments and needs.  We are also able to help you to locate a suitable agency for your placement if you need us to.
